Film Promotion

Film institutions invest a lot of funds into expensive marketing campaigns to obtain the largest possible target audience. Also to increase the audience awareness and attendance of the released film. A campaign will consist of using both traditional methods such as magazines, newspapers and radio as well as more modern promotional techniques. We now are living in a Digital Media Era, meaning film studios now use the Internet for promotional distribution and viral marketing.

Teaser Trailers:
  • Short in length (30-60 seconds)
  • released before the main promotional campaign and film is due
  • Purpose is to let the audience know the film is coming in the near future and the build up the audiences curiosity about the film.

Initial Ideas

I choose...

During my lessons we were given an introduction to the different media forms and the conventions and aspects of the medias. This was to help us to decide which media we wanted to do and provide us with more knowledge on the different areas. My intentions from the beginning was to choose film promotion, it is what interested me the most. I would like to explore advertising industry in the future, making film promotion my first choice.
